Layout Description:
Our Kingsthorpe layout is an imaginary line named after the Kingsthorpe Community Centre in Northampton
where it was first conceived and constructed. This O gauge layout is based on an imaginary preserved
line adjacent to a working railway in the blue diesel era of British Rail. This allows for the running
of blue diesels in the background on the main line and a verity of preserved steam and diesels to be run
on the preserved line.
It's a flexible layout which allows for a verity of running operations to be preformed. This is due to
the split nature allowing for the 2 lines to be run independently. However there is also a connection
between the main line and the preserved allowing for trains and goods to be allowing between the lines.
The Main line has fiddle yards at both ends allowing for trains to be running on and off both ends
whereas the preserve only has a fiddle yard on 1 end due to the other end having a engine shed allowing
for locos to be stored on display.
